Artist's Description
Laska = Love in Czech. Photograph taken in Prague of a detail of the John Lennon wall. Under communist times, dissidents painted John Lennon inspired graffiti on this wall only to have the authorities paint over it. The next day images about peace and love would pop up again.
Today, the original portrait of John Lennon is long gone however his spirit lives as the wall is seen as a symbol of hope.
***Photograph taken on film. Negative scanned to create digital file which was then enhanced to create the vintage effect.
About Patrick Klauss
Patrick Klauss was born in 1971 in Lucerne, Switzerland to Czech parents who sought political asylum in the West. In 1981, Patrick's family moved to Toronto, Canada where he still lives and works. Patrick has traveled extensively and has always been drawn to sacred spots around the world. His photographs document his journeys. Patrick has had solo shows in Toronto, Canada and Prague, Czech Republic. His work is in private collections in Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Holland, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Romania, Sweden and the United States.
